The Curator's Note
This "White Geometry" traditional embroidery dress features an authentic black ornament and a trapezoidal cut, handcrafted with the ancient Ukrainian technique called "Zbyranka". The black symbolizes fertility, generosity, and prosperity of the earth, while the white represents innocence, purity, and chastity.
The interlocking triangles in the shape of an hourglass symbolize the physical and metaphysical dimensions of life, with each triangle representing the father, mother, and child. This is a symbol of divine trinity, with the upwardly oriented triangle representing the sun and life. It also represents a trinity of love, truth, and wisdom.
The upward-facing triangle is associated with the moon, the feminine base, and water, symbolizing the Great Mother Goddess-Rozhanitsa. The diamond is a common symbol of fertility and femininity.
Details include 100% natural fabric, traditional Ukrainian ornamentation, and handcrafted techniques, "Puhlyk" and "Zbyrank"
