Arta Casnică Breaza

Romania's First Folk Art Cooperative
📍 Breaza, Prahova
Traditional Weaving Hand Embroidery Romanian Blouse Pânză Topită

Founded in 1948 as Romania's first folk art cooperative, Arta Casnică Breaza became the country's largest producer of traditional Romanian blouses, employing nearly 4,000 artisans at its peak.

The cooperative unified the Prahova region’s craft tradition — weaving, embroidery, and broderie — preserving iconic motifs such as the Breaza tulip, the Crown of the Rooster, and Queen Marie’s star, executed on fine handwoven pânză topită.

Today, its legacy continues through generations of artisans and family workshops, maintaining a living tradition of Romanian blouse making.
